We frequently hold public meetings to collaborate on projects, hold community discussions and design sessions.
Prof. Florian Schacht hosted the second seminar of the AR4Math group at Essen-Duisburg University from January 27-29, 2020 entitled: The International Symposium on Augmented Reality in Mathematics Education. In this symposium, we described the journey of the design of augmented reality technology and how we are adapting it to the mathematics education field, as well as theoretical aspects vis-à-vis individual and social learning in an AR-rich environment. Additionally, the results of two empirical studies from our projects were presented.
The AR4Math project hosted a seminar from March 31 to April 4, 2019 at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev on using augmented reality in learning and teaching mathematics. Prof. Ferdinando Arzarello, Prof. Cristina Sabena and Dr. Carlotta Soldano from Turin University, Italy, and Prof. Florian Schacht from Essen-Duisburg University, Germany, as well as Prof. Michael Fried, Dr. Osama Swidan and Mr. Otman Jaber took an active role in this seminar. The participants engaged in designing tasks, conducted experiments, and observed students who were learning mathematics using AR devices. On the last day of the seminar, the group shared their insights with the Israeli mathematics educators during a round table session held for this purpose.
